2012 Phone Commercial Approaches
Apple has always gone with simplicity but the new iPhone 5 phone commercial is all about quality.
iPhone 5
Where as Samsung went with one of their usuals, “We are better than Apple” approach.
Galaxy S3
This may sway your vote…
Sidenote
Check out this cool presentation about Stockholm using multiple iPads.

Not too long ago a video spread created by a Dutch film maker who taped his daughter once a week for twelve weeks. Samsung incorporated the innovative video as part of their Galaxy S3 phone campaign ” in the Sprint Girl commercial. The Sprint Girl and Designed for Humans videos are good representations of Samsung’s recent advertising/marketing strategy for making the gadget seem more personable and life-like for each user while also showing off the phones.
For those who haven’t seen the video check out the video “Portrait of Lotte” or go to Frans Hofmeester’s site to find out more and see his son’s video too!

As technology is advancing it is also speeding up other industries. Advertisers are changing their strategies knowing regular print ads don’t reach as large of an audience as they used to. New forms are emerging but one of my favorites is Guerrilla advertising.
Risky Business
Guerrilla advertising isn’t guaranteed to improve sales, but if done right it can definitely boost attention and draw awareness.
Here is an example from McDonald’s, one of the most recognized brands in advertising.
Most guerrilla ads are very creative but some can be interesting and weird too. Whatever works. No matter what the well thought out and placed signs say all that matters is some part of it stuck with the viewer. Thats what I like about them, its a knew or different perspective I never thought of and it makes me try to think of my own.
